The awards are out from the National Art and Writing competition and our visual arts students blew the competition out of the water. With several gold key and silver key awards and a plethora of honorable mentions, CCS stole the show with their immense talent. All of these individuals created original pieces of artwork or portfolios that caught the eyes of the judges amongst the other entries within their state. They will each be receiving recognition during an assembly in early March.
Our 2017 Silver Key winners are Grace Bradham, Hannah Cataldo, Katherine Hanebutt, Allison Holbrooks, and Abby Richards. The Honorable Mention nominees are Grace Bradham, Ava Bruns, Hanxi Chang, Katherine Hanebutt, Taylor Holbrooks, Abby Richards, Sydney Scott, Lauren Spangler, and Caroline White. We congratulate these participants and are looking forward to honoring them for their tremendous creativity.
However, the competition does end here. Our Gold Key winners have exceeded the expectations of the judges and will be entered into the national competition, along with a handful of other individuals from schools all over the country. Our 2017 Gold Key winners are Grace Blevins, Eva Bower, Grace Bradham, Ava Bruns, Maya Cauthen, Caroline Doyle, Katherine Hanebutt, Regan Jackson, Andrew Metz, Sydney Scott, and Phoebe Son. At the banquet this past Saturday, the Gold Key winners were recognized and a few students received additional honors. Phoebe Son and Grace Blevins won best in their categories of mixed media and editorial cartoon. Grace Bradham’s poem won a spot on one of the 15 Adams Outdoor billboards.
All Gold Key artwork will be on display uptown in Spirit Square until the 28th of February. The Silver Key winners will be on display at the Mint Museum until the 28th. Stay tuned for the results of the national competition. God job and good luck participants!
