Matthew Boelkins may be the friendliest student in the high school of Charlotte Christian. His happiness radiates wherever he goes. Matthew is involved in many extra-curriculars, including cross-country and track. In fact, Matthew once came in the top 15 in a very important and big cross-country meet! Matthew spends his free time at McAlister’s Deli, or playing his boonton in the high school band. Matthew also is quite the adventurer! One time he hiked for 12 days in New Mexico and sailed through a hurricane in the Bahamas!
Matthew not only excels at sports, but he also excels in his academics. He even won the Randolph College Book Award! What an honor! Matthew’s favorite subject is chemistry, and he hopes to major in engineering at whichever school he attends because he likes math and science. His favorite teachers are Mr. Angley, Mr. Runge, Mrs. Szymborski, and Mrs. McGinn.
Matthew’s faith has grown immensely through high school. Having been a student here since he was in 2nd grade, he has been impacted by many of the incredible teachers at CCS. He feels as though his faith has gone from a “Sunday school-like” faith to something he can actually defend and trust in. Matthew’s favorite Bible verse is John 3:17, which says, “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” Thank you, Matthew for impacting the Charlotte Christian community with your kindness and your positivity! We wish you the best of luck in college!
