As Drake poetically sings, Saturdays are for the boys. On September 3rd, the team travelled to Monroe High School to take on Cuthbertson High School.

The first half was back and forth, with both teams excelling on both offense and defense. The second half, however, was a different story.

The Knights broke their 14-13 lead, and dominated the entire game. On a 4th and 1 play, quarterback Garrett Shrader juked the defenders and ran the ball in for a touchdown, setting the tone of the rest of the game.

The defense also made their presence known. Each time Cutherbertson’s offense started getting into a rhythm, our defense was right there.

Among many successful defensive plays, some of the most notable happened when Beau Snuggs and Jackson Horner recorded two pick sixes. Bryden Reed also came up with a fumble recovery and a blocked point after.

As the clocked ticked down to 0:00, the team captured the win, 49-19. The two teams gathered at the 50-yard line to congratulate Garrett Shrader, who was named MVP of the game after passing for 300 yards.

Without a doubt, this was one of the most important games for our team. Beating Catholic and Cuthbertson is not just a spirit boost for the team, but also stands as a warning to all future competitors – we are to be feared.

The undefeated Knights travel to Charleston this week to play the West Ashley Wildcats.
