Homecoming didn’t go exactly as planned for Country Day. After all, the famed fear was realized – their date humiliated them. Charlotte Christian shutout Country Day on Friday night 42-0.

The game started with a sense of déjà vu. Sophomore JB Awolowo, once again, returned the opening kickoff for a 99-yard touchdown. The relatively new defensive star (who formerly only played on offense) reminded fans that he is a threat on both sides of the ball; he will find the end zone no matter which side he lines up on.

All 42 points came in the first half with two touchdowns from senior Justus Woods and sole touchdowns from juniors Josh Eboboko, Garrett Shrader, and JT Killen.

“This is a team game and we played as a team. You see what happens when we play as a team…we beat people by 40,” said JB Awolowo.

The Knights had a great time at Country Day’s homecoming. We hope they invite us again next year.

Next week is our homecoming. The game will be at our house versus Metrolina Christian Academy. Five members of the football team will be recognized as part of the homecoming court: freshman Chip Kasay, sophomore JB Awolowo, and seniors Terrelle Brown, Ryan Chaffin, and Justus Woods.
