Last March, the Charlotte Christian community ran their first Colby 5k. This event was organized by Hannah Brandon and Kayleigh Erman as a tribute to Colby Young.

Last Saturday, the Colby 5k took place for the second year in a row. Hundreds of members of the CCS community showed up to give their support to Colby’s friends and family, and as a memory of Colby and the impact he made on all of us.

Lily Robinson, a volunteer of the 5k, said that “It was a really cool experience – a lot of people came out to support, even people you think wouldn’t expect to run. There were a ton of ccs families there. I helped hand put water, and so many other people were there to volunteer. When the running stopped, a boy from Carmel Christian who is a cancer survivor shared his story and the way he overcame this experience through prayer and reliance on God.”

Lily shared that this was a very powerful experience. The entire Young family was there, and even Bo and Camille, the littlest Youngs, got to run this year, because there was a kid’s fun run added.

A few words from Hannah Brandon: “We watched Colby fight. And he was fighting something that people were hardly even actively studying. We felt led to help in some small way, and that is how the Super Colby 5K started. Thank you to everyone who has given time and/or money to this cause, and if anyone would still like to make a donation, no matter how small, we would greatly appreciate it. You can give at”

We are so thankful to Hannah and Kayleigh, and all of the other volunteers and participants who supported this great event. If you couldn’t make it this year, be sure to come out and experience it next year!
