As the team ran onto the field for the anticipated opening game of the 2018-19 season against Charlotte Catholic, the adrenaline was clearly pumping. With 4 state championships and one of the strongest defenses in the division, the Cougars were ready to start their season with a win. Unfortunately for them…things didn’t go as planned.

After a rough loss against Catholic during last season’s opening game, the Knights were ready to come back with fire for the new season. Losing 22 seniors, the team worked hard during the summer; having long days of practice and many hours of conditioning in order to get the team ready for the season.

The 17 new seniors are prepared to lead the team to victory and they strongly believe they have the potential to win another state championship. They have made an impact on multiple players and have helped the other players grow individually in their positions. As the season progresses, the seniors continue to push the team harder and harder in every practice. The young potential in the juniors and sophomores is more evident than ever, as we got to see in the Catholic game.

With all this being said, the Knights, ranked 1 in the state and 65 in the nation, are ready to take their determination into the upcoming games. After being named the NCISAA Division 1 State Champions last year, they are prepared to fight for another ring.
